To the coming of autumn. Of leaves raining down around you, crunching them under your feet. Of crisp mornings and cool nights. Of fires and candles and blankets and sweaters. Of the peace that comes from remembering change is not a bad thing. It isn’t scary. It’s welcoming. It restores and renews. It releases us to be free from fear. Let nothing make us afraid.
Wallpaper/Vision Board
For each new season or really just whenever I am feeling like I need some new inspiration, I will make a new wallpaper or vision board. I use images from Pinterest, and I make the collage in Canva. I set this as my computer background, and I love looking at it whenever I am working! Here is a link to my fall Pinterest board if you are looking for some inspiration!
Recipes
My Favorite Tortellini Soup: This recipe is one I have made for years now. It is so comforting, delicious, and can be made dairy/gluten free, when needed. It is quick and easy in the crockpot and perfect with a side of sourdough bread.
Speaking of sourdough bread…I am planning to start my sourdough baking journey this fall! I do not have any recipes yet to share, but I will keep you updated once I do. If you have been hesitant to start, please do it with me! I feel like fall is the perfect time to get started.
Gluten Free/Dairy Free Banana Bread: This is the recipe I have been following. If the dough seems a little too dry or too wet, I just add a little more flour or coconut oil! Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Make sure the middle gets done!
3 brown bananas (make sure they’re brown or it won’t taste the same!)
2 cups flour (gluten free or other)
2 eggs
1/4 cup coconut sugar (any sugar will work)
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp almond butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
A few dashes of cinnamon
1/4 cup of protein powder/collagen (to add a little extra nutrients!)
Dark chocolate chips (to your liking!)
Music
Usually, I am very much a county music girl; however, in the fall, I like to switch it up a little bit. I will still have my Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and Ben Rector moods, but in the fall, I try to add a little more variety. Here is my fall playlist. It is currently a work in progress, but so far, I am enjoying listening to it!
Decor
This year, I decided to go very minimal with fall decorations. If you read last week’s newsletter, then you would know how I am really trying to simplify things in my life. But I still wanted to add some fall touches to our home.
To do this, I opted for things that I can throw away once the season is done - specifically, dried florals and real pumpkins. This is essentially all I am using to decorate our space. Hopefully, one day, when we have a home of our own, we will be able to keep and add a few more cozy touches like dish towels, pillows, and blankets; however, for our space and our season, this has been the perfect amount.
Instead of candles, we have just been using more fall smelling essential oils in the diffuser. I took a break from candles, and now, I have found that burning scented candles gives me a headache. I did swap out our more summery colored tapered candle on the kitchen table for a fall burnt orange one.
It’s the little things.
Bucket List
For the last couple years, I have really enjoyed making a bucket list for each new season. It helps me brainstorm new & season specific ideas of things to do for date nights or with friends. Here are some of the ideas I had for this fall!
Reading List
This year, I decided I also wanted to make a reading list for the fall. I feel like as the days get shorter and colder, I will crave reading a good book more and more. I want to have a list of books ready to go! Here is my current list for the fall season.
Let me know what you are reading this season!
“They will live securely, and no one will make them afraid.” (Ezekiel 34:28)
Thank you so much for reading and being here! I love being able to write and share every week! Talk to you next Monday!
Take care,
Caroline
