April Recap
Can you believe we are already 4 months into 2024?!
April was a really full and special month. I went on lots of walks and had picnics with friends. Jackson and I got to meet our friend’s precious twin boys. We watched a partial solar eclipse, celebrated a birthday in the family, and went fishing where I (almost!) caught a fish. I also got to walkthrough a wedding venue with my sweet friend whose wedding I am coordinating this summer - let me know if you want me to do yours next!
The warm weather, sunshine, and long days are getting me so excited for summer!

Reading
The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams - Sarah Adams is one of my favorite authors, and I loved this book! It is a friends to lovers, football, closed door romance that was so sweet and fun to read!
The Rule Book by Sarah Adams - This book follows a couple in the same friend group as the couple from The Cheat Sheet. It is also football related and is a second chance romance with a marriage of convenience.
Note: This book is almost all closed door - just skip chapter 34!
Happy Place by Emily Henry - I am reading all of Emily Henry’s books this month for a video I am posting soon on my Youtube. This book completely surpassed all my expectations. It is a second chance romance with a then and now timeline following the romance but also a friend group. It touches on so many aspects of being in your 20s as it relates to romance, family, friendships, and career. It was deep and fun and nostalgic all at the same time, and it is my top read of the year so far!
Note: If you want to read it but don’t want spice, skip pgs 290-294 and 320-322.
Watching
The Baxters on Amazon Prime - My Mom told me about this show so thank you Mom! It is based on some of Karen Kingsbury books, who is a Christian author. We watched all the episodes really quickly, so I hope they make more seasons!
You’ve Got Mail on Netflix - You can watch this classic nineties film on Netflix right now! I have seen this movie before, and I love it for so many reasons; however, this time when we watched it, Jackson and I couldn’t stop talking about the nostalgia of observing life before cell phones. Watch it with that lens, and I promise it will make you think!
Listening
Let Me Put My Phone Down by 1000 Hours Outside - In this episode, the host talks to one of the founders of Aro. “Aro is the first solution designed specifically for families looking to reduce screen time and increase quality time together.” I think their company is doing some really important work, and this podcast has some really great insights into screen time, parenting, and how we relate to one another.
Doing
If you read my recent post about what is in your jar, then you know I have been trying to set specific priorities to focus on. April started a new quarter, and my focus for this quarter is health. I am tracking different habits like water, sunlight, and movement.
I think movement can be anything - walking, yoga, weight lifting, pickleball, running, pilates, etc. However, since I was already doing this health challenge for myself, I decided to add an extra goal. I am going to run a 5k!
So in April, I have been running, and that has been new for me. But shockingly, I have found it gets easier the more you do it! And I love feeling more in shape and stronger (both mentally and physically) every time I do another run.
Quote
I’ll leave you this week with a quote from my new favorite read of 2024 so far, Happy Place by Emily Henry:
“She shrugs. ‘It could still happen. Life’s long.’ That makes me snort with laughter. ‘I don’t think anyone says that.’ ‘Maybe not,’ she says, ‘but if they were truly present, maybe they would.’
As always, thank you so much for reading! Comment or respond with what you have been reading, watching, listening to, or doing in April!
Take care,
Caroline
