June Recap
June was full of teaching summer school, reading by the pool, walking to matcha, visiting family, and coordinating my first wedding (more to come about that next week)!

Reading
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - This book is truly a piece of art and encapsulates so many unique aspects of girlhood and womanhood. It depicts female friendships in such a truthful and real way and spans decades to where you really feel like you are growing up with the main characters. It also explores mother daughter relationships and the power that relationship (or lack thereof) holds. It contrasts the desire to stay home and be “just a mom” with fame, fortune, and career. It causes readers to ask the question, “What really makes us happy?”
Warning: This book did make me cry. Watch me talk more about it here.
How to Love Your Neighbor by Sophie Sullivan - This book felt like beach romance meets HGTV. In this book, our main characters are neighbors living in a small beach town, fixing up their houses. If you love the beach, romance, design, friends turned to family, and bets - you will love this sweet, closed-door romance!
Watching
Inside Out 2 - Jackson and I went and watched this movie in theaters, and it was SO good! The way the movie depicts anxiety is so spot-on, and I feel like it is a great way for those who do not experience intense anxiety to understand what their friends and family may experience more often. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I highly recommend watching this movie. If you do, message me so we can talk about it!
Listening
I feel like I swing between being really into listening to podcasts and then back to just wanting to listen to music. When I was little, I spent hours in my room writing songs (that I hope no ever hears), but I have always had the dream of writing at least one song in my life that I do want other people to hear. Because of that, I have been trying to listen to music that I wish I had wrote - especially beautiful lyrics. Recently, that has consisted of a lot of Taylor Swift!
Doing
This summer, I have really been trying to be more intentional about my health. That hs looked like…
More protein - My doctor told me I should be eating around 100g of protein a day, and when I started looking at what I typically eat in a day, I realized I am probably rarely ever hitting this. So, something I have been focusing on this summer is increasing my protein intake. This can also help with blood sugar regulation and cravings!
More steps - Another thing I have been trying to do is get in more steps every day. My goal is to get at least 7,500 but preferably closer to 10,000.
More sun - Getting outside for 15 minutes or so in direct sun is the best and easiest way to increase your vitamin D, which can make you feel less anxious and more energetic! It can also help regulate your circadian rhythm and your hormones. Plus, sitting in the sun in the summer just feels right!
Quote
In the spirit of summer being a little more spontaneous and free, here’s a fun little quote from Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch:
“I once asked her if Dad was part of her plan, and she said that plans are for buildings, not people.”
I hope you have a wonderful summer! Thank you so much for reading!
Take care,
Caroline
