Reading
Only Magic in the Building Series by Multiple Authors - This is a new multi-author series of no spice romances! All of the books are set in the same magical apartment building - fun, whimsical, lighthearted magic not dark magic! There will be eight books total, and they are being released every Wednesday! On Kindle Unlimited!
Book 1: The Serendipity by Emma St. Clair - A billionaire and baker romance with a magical closet! I really enjoyed this one, and I feel like it set the stage so well for the rest of the series!
Book 2: The Cupid Chronicles by Courtney Walsh - A neighbor romance with a magical newspaper! I especially enjoyed the found family and community built in this story!
Create a Life you Love by Stephanie May Wilson - If you are in a season of life where you are wondering what to do next, wanting to make a change, or maybe even feeling behind, I think this book is for you! It is full of the author’s own stories and vulnerability, along with practical advice to help you create a life you love. I really enjoyed the audiobook, but I think having a physical copy to underline and write in would be wonderful too!
Watching
Gilmore Girls - Is anyone surprised? This is 100% my comfort show. I have seen it too many times to count. If you have never seen it, this is your sign! If you have, you have my permission to watch it again.
American Idol - I grew up watching American Idol and just got back into watching it last year. This year Carrie Underwood is a judge, and I am loving it so far!
Listening
This season of American Idol has allowed me to rediscover my love of Carrie Underwood’s music. I grew up listening to her music and forgot how much I loved it!
Thinking
Anxiety - I have been reading The Anxious Generation, and something he said about anxiety really stuck out to me. He talks about how anxiety isn’t actually the fear of something happening. Anxiety is the fear of not being able to handle whatever happens. Essentially, it is a lack of confidence in your own ability to handle whatever life throws at you. This reframing of anxiety has really helped me. Anxiety isn’t controlled by what happens to me but by how I respond. Building my confidence, even in little ways, will ultimately help me be less anxious. I had never thought about the connection between confidence and anxiety before, but now I see it so clearly!
Seasons - As spring arrives, I’ve been thinking more about seasons. If you’ve been around here, you know I’m not the biggest fan of winter. But now that spring is here, I’m reminded of how much sweeter it feels because of the winter that came before it. At church this week, I looked out the window at the trees beginning to bloom and thought about how, just a few weeks ago, I was looking through the same window, watching the snow fall. I’ve said before that this winter felt like the first real winter I’ve ever experienced. And because of that, I think I’ve experienced the seasons more deeply this year than ever before. Not every season is my favorite, but I’m learning to find joy in all of them - in weather and in life.
Quote
“I don’t believe that soulmates are found. They’re made.”
She squeezes my arm and leans in a little closer. “The real magic is when two people make the choice to love each other. To put each other first - no matter what. And making that choice every single day, over and over” - she pats my hand - “that is a truly rare and beautiful thing. That’s what a soulmate is.”
Soulmates aren’t found, they’re made.
