Deals & Decor
This time of year is when, more than any other time, I feel incredibly tempted to buy tons of new things, shop all the sales, and stock up on things I might one day use or “need”.
I feel like I should get Christmas sheets for our bed or buy another Christmas tree so we can have one in every room.
Allow me to tell you, if no one else has, that you don’t have to buy anything new. What you have is enough.
If you decide you really want that throw pillow for the couch or that festive spatula for the kitchen - go for it. I am all for bringing things into our home that make us happy.
But know that there are other ways to decorate the holiday season that don’t involve buying copious amounts of new things or spending the last 3 months of paychecks.
You can decorate with the lingering smell of fresh baked goods or the sound of your favorite Christmas album draping the air. You can decorate this season with timely books or movies and with activities that are unique to this time of year.
So, in that vein, here are a few ways I am decorating our days these next few weeks.

A New Approach
I am a big fan of all the more “commercial” Christmasy things - seasonal drinks, holiday shopping, Christmas movies & books & songs. But, I also love the advent season - slowing down, lighting the candles, reading scripture.
So, I decided this year I wanted to try a more two-part approach to the Christmas season. In November, I am trying to do more of the more typical Christmas activities, and in December, I am planning to really slow down and center my life more around advent.
I know it won’t be perfectly compartmentalized, but my goal is to make December full of rest, hope, and wonder.
I hope yours is too.
Thanks for reading! I hope you all have a magical holiday season!
Take care,
Caroline
