One Month Anniversary!
Today marks the one month anniversary of our move to Indiana, and in honor of that occasion, I wanted to share a sampling of my honest, random, and unfiltered thoughts on living here. Here we go…
Living near a big city is wild. The other day I ordered something on Amazon at 8:09 am. It was delivered around 11 the same day.
The walking and biking trails here are truly incredible. I have been averaging over 8,000 steps a day easily since moving here with multiple days over 15,000. We also have been biking a ton, and it just makes me feel like a kid again!
Having siblings close is so fun! My brother and sister-in-law live right down the road, so we run into them all the time! I already know we will look back on this season of being “neighbors” with such fondness and gratitude.
Speaking of family, having parents far away is doable but not ideal. We wish they were closer! This is the only thing I can really think of that we don’t love about living here.
There are so many coffee shops and restaurants to try! Being near a big city means tons of culture and variety. I am excited to try new things and find my new staples.
Meijer is my new favorite grocery store. It has so many brands and items I love at cheaper prices. They also have great rewards and gas points. I am a fan!
The weather in the summer is absolutely glorious. This past weekend it was sunny with the temperature ranging from around 60 in the morning to around 70 during the day. And it is August?! There always seems to be a light breeze too. (Now, ask me again how I feel about the weather in a couple of months, and I might have another thing to add to the list of things we don’t love.)
There are so many fun weekend trips we could take! We haven’t taken any yet, but something I love about being up here are the new options we have. We are planning to do Lake Michigan and Chicago soon.
There are so many amazing churches! Since moving, we have visited a couple of different churches, and we really loved them all. We have decided to make one our home and are really excited to get more connected!
The libraries around here are going to become my second homes. They are beautiful, spacious, and filled with so many books waiting to be read!
I encounter so much wildlife in my day to day. Everytime I go out, I see bunnies, chipmunks, deer, squirrels, and so many beautiful birds. Obviously, there was tons of wildlife in Tennessee, but here I feel like it is more up close and personal.
There is tons of nature that is so easily accessible. Lack of access to nature, water, and parks was something we were worried about in our move, but the parks up here are amazing! We have already found a couple that will probably be our go to’s - one that is more nature and one that is more park. We love them both!
Driving up here is so pleasant. My commute has zero red lights, but it has six roundabouts. It is wonderful!
Making new friends is always a little scary, but it is also so fun! This week we are visiting a small group, and I am going to try reformer pilates with a new friend from work. I am so hopeful for new friendships and community!
I feel so much peace being here. Jackson and I explored the possibilities of moving a lot of different places, and it is just really sweet to finally be home. We are soaking up this time exploring and settling in, and we are so thankful!
Thank you so much for reading! If you love getting my newsletter each week, it would mean so much if you shared with a friend you think would love it too!
Take care,
Caroline
