Running on E
Last week I was feeling off - tired, anxious, and letting things get to me. It felt like I was running on low battery.
If you read last week’s newsletter, I shared about how I have been feeling in-between. I shared my feelings in the hopes that someone else might feel less alone and be able to say, “Me too,” or “I’m glad it’s not just me.”
But I didn’t feel like I left you all with any advice if that is how you have been feeling.
Last Monday, I honestly didn’t have any. I didn’t know what would help.
But as the week went on, it got me thinking about all the little things that do help. The small things that actually make a big difference in how we feel and how we show up every day.
It’s the things we know we enjoy, the things we know make us feel better, but we don’t always put energy into doing them.
So if you have been feeling down, off, anxious, low, in-between, confused, stagnant, anything but 100% - these are for you.
They may be small, but they are mighty.
Little Things That Help
I broke these down into two categories: recharge and low power mode.
Recharge
These are the things that don’t ask anything from you but instead give you energy back.
Stretching
Taking a sick day
Resting without feeling guilty
Listening to your favorite songs or podcast
Going to bed early
Using a heating pad or weighted blanket
Getting off your phone
Taking a nap
Wearing cozy clothes
Taking deep breaths
Letting those around you know you aren’t feeling 100%
Staying hydrated
Watching a comfort show or movie
Sitting in the sunshine
Low Power Mode
These are the things that take a little effort but return even more than you give.
Journaling
Tidying one space
Making a gratitude list
Talking to a friend
Planning something to look forward to
Walking
Reading a book
Making your bed
Sipping on a fun and nourishing drink (matcha, bone broth, tea, etc.)
Taking a warm shower or bath
Dancing
Making a comfort meal
I hope even one of these little things can help you this week.
Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this newsletter, it would mean so much to me if you would share it with a friend!
Take care,
Caroline
