Spring Starts in 8 Days!
Every time the season change, I think that the new one arriving is my favorite. Which I guess is a good thing - embracing the seasons as they come and celebrating the uniqueness and beauty in each one.
However, spring I think it actually my favorite. (We will see what I say once we get to summer and fall and winter…)
I love the new life in spring. The longer days. The colors. The way everything starts to defrost - including people. We start to come outside and come back to life - hopefully after a restful and reflective winter.
Making Room
Currently, I am on my school’s spring break, and I have trouble with breaks.
This trouble comes because I am not good at resting. Where most people might see a week of sleeping in, spending time with friends, and doing their favorite hobbies, my brain sees a time to get ahead on all the tasks I have to do, clean the whole house, and run all kinds of errands.
Of course, there is a time an a place for these things - especially on a break when you have a little more time than usual to work on them.
But, I always go overboard. Last week, I made a schedule where I wrote down what I wanted to do on each day.
There’s nothing wrong with a schedule. But the night before my week off, I realized I had scheduled zero time for anything restful and zero down time.
Although rest does not come naturally to me right now, I want to be a person who can rest well. I want to be more intentional about it.
So I rewrote the schedule and made room.
I made room for time with friends and workouts I enjoy and reading new library books. I made room for sleeping in and making banana bread and sitting in the gorgeous spring weather we are having.
So this is my encouragement to you: make room in your life this spring for who you want to be and the things you want to do. Be intentional.
Maybe for you that is doing a big spring cleaning and decluttering, or maybe it is taking a day to be alone to journal and pray and do things that feel truly restful for you. Personally, I scheduled both of these into my week off.
Evaluate what’s worth making room for and what you need to stop allowing to take up room - and then act on it.

Wallpaper / Vision Board
I never regret taking an hour or so to make a new wallpaper / vision board. It serves as inspiration, a creative outlet, and a way I can rest.
This is the vision board I made for March, and I have a feeling it will stay with me throughout spring. Instead of just picking photos I liked, this time I tried to pick photos that specifically aligned with goals and plans I have for this upcoming season.
More intentional time with my husband. More time devoted to exercise and health. Wearing pastels and finding my style. Walks with friends. Tulips, of course. Remembering to play and do things just for fun. Fresh and in season fruits and veggies. Lots of reading. Being curious and learning. Looking for butterflies.
Bucket List
Having a bucket list to pull ideas from when it is a beautiful spring day and you are looking for something to do is so helpful. Bike rides, picnics, and reading outside are some of the ones I am most looking forward to. Also, there is a solar eclipse is happening on April 8th! You can see if you are in the path here.
Reading List
I did a whole YouTube video on spring books ideas. I don’t think I will get to all 40 of these books before summer starts, but it is a great resource to pick out some spring inspired reads!
It would mean so much to me if you would watch, like, comment, and / or subscribe!
Music
I love making a playlist for each season. It is where I add new music as it comes out, and it is so fun to look back over the years and see what I was listening to. Since spring has not even technically started yet, this playlist is still small. However, I am adding to it every day, and I hope it at least gives you some inspiration and ideas for your own playlist.
I hope you have the best start to your Springtime!
It would mean so much to me if you would share my newsletter with someone you think would enjoy it. Thank you as always for reading, and I will talk to you next Monday!
Take care,
Caroline
