My Hopes for Summer

A Tip for Vision Board Making: I love to make a vision board for each season. I used to just choose random photos I liked and mash them together, but I found that my season was never really reflective of those vision boards. Lately, I have been first thinking about goals, habits, and activities that I want to characterize the season. Then, I choose photos that reflect those things. Doing it this way, I have found that my camera roll often looks like my vision board come to life!
I am planning to share my summer morning routine next week!

So far this summer I have pretty much had one of three things on repeat - Mamma Mia, country, or any of the Disney throwback playlists on Spotify. Thereโs nothing like the feeling of hearing a song you havenโt listened to in years and knowing every word!
Recipes

Blueberry Matcha - I just tried this for the first time today, and it was delicious! I am definitely going to be experimenting this summer with different sugars, amounts, and other variations, but for my first try, it was delicious! I used 1 cup sugar, 1 cup wild blueberries, and 1 cup of water! You bring it to a boil on the stove, then let it simmer for ten to fifteen minutes. After letting it cool, you add some vanilla, strain it, and serve it up in coffee or matcha! I use the Pique Tea matcha and love it!
My other go to recipe for summer is a pasta salad. I donโt have a specific recipe for this because you can really use anything you want! Pick a protein, a green, a pasta noodle, and a cheese, add in some fruits and veggies, and top it with your favorite dressing! We also love adding roasted chickpeas to the top of our salads to give it a crunch. This is perfect to meal prep for the week or take to the pool!
Summer Goals
I feel like summer is the perfect time to set some different, perhaps more silly or frivolous, goals for yourself that are just for fun!
Set aside creative time throughout the week. During the school year, between work and home and other obligations, I find it hard to really unwind and tap into my creativity. My goal for this summer is to set aside uninterrupted time to read, paint, write, play music, doodle, and just allow my creativity to flow!
Get a tan! When I was young, I spent enough time outside that my hair would be light and my skin would get dark. But in high school and college, I really struggled to ever get tan. My goal is to spend time this summer soaking up lots of vitamin d!
Figure out my hair care routine. A couple years ago, I feel like I figured out a simple, clean makeup routine that I liked. But I have never really figured out my tried and true hair routine. This summer I want to experiment with different ways of styling it.
Become a runner. I have always wished I was a runner, but I have never actually been a runner. Last summer, I got into it a little bit, and then we moved and all my progress went out the window. I have already gone on a couple runs this summer and seen some progress! Send me all your running tips!
Follow a weekly workout routine. I joined a workout studio, so I am going to classes twice a week now! On top of that, I want to run three days a week, spend one day in the gym hitting any muscle groups I didnโt throughout the week, and the last day getting in a really good stretch. So far, this split is feeling good!
Take care of my nervous system. The more I learn about womenโs health, the more worried I am that most womenโs nervous systems are in need of some TLC. Especially since I donโt have to work in the summer, I am working on resetting and supporting my nervous system. Some ways I am doing this include deep breathing, silence, dancing, and unplugged walks.
Continue the healthy habits I built in during the springtime. This includes drinking at least 80 ounces of water a day, getting 10,000 steps a day, getting 9 hours of sleep at night, taking my daily supplements, and following my evening routine. It is easy to want to add 20 different habits into your routine at once, but adding just a couple at a time allows you to really build consistency. Then you can add more on top!
What are your goals for the summertime?
