Your Personalized Summer Morning Routine ☀️⛱️
How to Create Your Ideal Morning Routine + My Summer Routine!
Seasons Change & So Do We
I love changing my morning routine as the seasons change.
Adding extra coziness in the fall, embracing deeper rest in the winter, inviting fresh inspiration for the spring, and ramping up the healthy habits come summer.
For me, my routine isn’t about rigid rules. It’s about caring for who I am when I wake up - whether I need more gentleness or more structure - while also moving toward who I want to become. It’s a rhythm that ebbs and flows, a balance of comfort and challenge.
By adjusting my routine, I’m able to nurture the person I am today while staying true to the habits that shape who I’m becoming.
Designing Your Routine
Here are some things to think about when crafting a new morning routine. I hope these give you inspiration and guide you to creating a morning routine that really works for you.
Make a list for each of these numbers. Write down what comes to mind.
Vacation Mornings - How do you spend your mornings on vacation? Are you someone who loves to go for an early morning run or workout? Do you enjoy sleeping in and slowly making your way to the porch with a cup of coffee? Think about how you spend your mornings when there’s nothing on the calendar.
Habits - What habits are you trying to build into your life? Are you are trying to workout more, drink more water, get more steps, journal, or spend more time with your kids? This could be anything - get creative!
Feeling - How do you want your mornings to feel? Slow and peaceful? Productive and energizing? Healthy and nourishing? Think about how you want to feeling in the morning that will set you up for success the rest of the day.
Now, take your lists and compare them. Where is the overlap?
Don’t Overdo It!
Here is where you might be tempted to build the most elaborate, five-hour routine. I know there are a million good things you could be doing with your morning. But try to narrow it down.
One of the reasons we love our vacation mornings so much is that they don’t feel jam-packed or hurried. There are only a handful of things that we genuinely want to do.
So focus on the few habits that give you the biggest return - both in the feeling you want to cultivate and in the healthy habits you're trying to build.
From there, it’s all really just trial and error. Experiment with different orders, different timing, and different combinations. See what feels natural. Keep adjusting until you find something that feels right for you!
And then? Don’t get too attached. As seasons change and as you change, you might just want to change your routine again too. And that’s okay!
My Ideal Summer Morning Routine
I wanted to show you a glance at my morning and how I used some of the ideas I just mentioned to build it.
6:00 - Wake Up & Watch the Sunrise
Vacation Mornings: My favorite thing to do on beach vacations is wake up and watch the sunrise.
Habits: Morning light helps regulate your circadian rhythm, including regulating cortisol, melatonin, and other hormones.
6:15 - Reading & Journaling
Habits: Prayer, gratitude, journaling - all ways I help support my nervous system at the beginning of the day.
6:45 - Breakfast
Habits: I aim to eat breakfast within an hour of waking to help support my hormones and my nervous system!
7:15 - Tidy & Make Coffee + Matcha
Feeling: You might notice there’s a lot of wiggle room in my morning. Lots of time to linger while walking or reading or eating. This is because I want my mornings to feel peaceful and calm, not hurried or chaotic.
7:30 - Walk with Jackson
Vacation Mornings: On vacations, I love to wake up and go for a morning walk, especially to get a fun drink like a matcha or a smoothie! When Jackson and I go for walks in the morning, we put our coffee and matcha in a to go cup and take them with us!
8:30 - Workout
Habits: Getting movement in!
9:30 - Get Ready!
Feeling: My goal is to feel ready to take on the day by the end of my morning routine. Getting ready, even if it is just a little bit, feels like the cherry on top!
And that’s my morning!

I love to watch the sun rise in the morning, especially if I am at the beach!
